Great Atlantic Trading was established in Portland, Maine in 1991 by scallop & urchin divers and husband and wife duo, Dana and Denise Leavitt. Trained by the Japanese in the art of processing delicate roes, they began to source all caviar and roe options available to America, extensively grading and vetting products based on quality but also sustainability. The industry shift of the early 2000's from wild to farmed caviar, paired with the strong relationships established with US fishermen and farmers, domestic and abroad, has allowed us to continuously access one of the largest varieties of sustainable caviar and roes in the World. Additionally, we specialize in sourcing rare European delicacies for creative chefs.
