Arrosticini are Tommaso Conte
D’Abruzzo | TC Provisions
Abruzzo to D’Abruzzo
Tommaso Conte, owner of D’Abruzzo and TC Provisions, the nation’s leading
producer and provider of Arrosticini, the much-loved traditional lamb skewer from
the Abruzzo region of Italy.
Arrosticini are a specific type of skewer which are made from lamb. The meat is
cut into small cubes and placed on a wooden skewer. Between the meat a small
piece of fat is placed to ensure the lamb stays tender and the flavors are full.
No other Abruzzese dish is more popular.
D’Abruzzo is a business that is bound to the food, culture and traditions of the
region. The mountains and small towns of Abruzzo come alive with Arrosticini,
one of the oldest and most traditional meals of the region. Passion and love run
through the veins of the D’Abruzzo family, and we are proud to share our culinary
traditions and heritage with the world. But Conte believed the culinary secrets of
Abruzzo are too special to keep secret—so D’Abruzzo was formed.
Each time Tommaso travels to his family’s hometown there are certain things that
always happen, and eating Arrosticini is one of them.
Along with cooking his Arrosticini at various events up and down the east coast,
they can also be found by direct-to-consumer sales and distribution channels for
wholesale throughout the United States and South America.
In August 2017, D’Abruzzo began appearing regularly at food festivals, music
festivals, markets, stadium concessions along with offering catering. Along the way
Conte’s business has won awards as Best Market Vendor in NYC, weas the subject
of an award-nominated documentary at the NYC food film festival for a and been
invited to events across the country and as far away as Osaka, Japan.
In 2019 Conte formed TC Provisions, which now produces all of the Arrosticini inhouse
for D’Abruzzo and wholesale distribution. The company’s products are
distributed around the United States and South America, where the business
works closely with distributors and retailers alike.
Some notable retail customers are Eataly, Food Innovations and Iavarone
Brothers.
Despite the massive workload of both growing businesses, Conte never loses sight
of his inspiration to establish D’Abruzzo: the majesty of Abruzzo’s soaring
mountains, its Adriatic coastline, the people who live in its tiny, forgotten towns
and the foods that are true only to the region.
With every skewer served, Conte brings Abruzzo to life. And the people always
come back for more.
